Privacy principles

Your material
is not the product.

Documentary projects can contain vulnerable testimony, unfinished reporting, and relationships built on trust. Privacy is part of the filmmaking craft, not a settings-page afterthought.

01

Local first

The product is being designed so sensitive documentary material can remain on the filmmaker’s Mac.

02

On-device understanding

Where supported, language understanding happens with Apple’s on-device foundation models rather than a remote AI service.

03

Visible provenance

Generated suggestions remain distinct from source text and user-approved records. Every useful insight should lead back to evidence.

04

Honest uncertainty

The app may show that two sources disagree. It will not label a participant truthful, deceptive, or unreliable.

05

Portable work

The filmmaker’s research should leave cleanly through practical exports instead of being trapped in a proprietary cloud.

These are product-design commitments for an application in development, not a final legal privacy policy. A complete policy will be published before release.
